FIRST FLOWER of the YEAR SQUARE
This block was originally designed for the Florence dress.

Later I have used the full square, half square, or part of the square, in several other projects, with different yarn- and hook-sizes.

As any granny-square, also this one change appearance according to yarn, hook size, colors, and color combinations within the rounds. The square has 10 rounds, quite large. You can however stop working in any round, and achieve a new square-design and measure, every time.

PHOTO above LEFT:
Two samples showing how the square change appearance with different  yarn and hook.

Large square: Yarn: DK/Hook: 5 mm/H/8. Measure: 25x25 cm (10x10 “)
Small square: Yarn: Fingering/Hook: 2,5 mm (C/2).
Measure: 16x16 cm (6 1/4x6 1/4 “)

I love this square, as it's so adaptable and useful!
It's not boring to work, or too complicated. It has everything from
a circle, to plain stitches in a square, to the final wave-border,
which makes it special.

  • This square will make a beautiful bed-spread or afghan!
  • Looks great as summer-top or dress.
  • Create a very special look in DK or heavier.
  • Super for ponchos, cardigans or sweaters!
  • Only limited by your fantasy!
